St. Louis, Missouri – Seniors Home Care

November 9, 2016 – November 10, 2016

Your host company:  Seniors Home Care

SHC_LOGO_RGBSeniors Home Care (SHC) is a privately owned company founded by Kit Whittington, a registered nurse. SHC has been providing professional and compassionate St. Louis-area elder care since 1987. SHC offers complete personal and household services that allow seniors to maintain their dignity and independence, wherever they call home.

Perhaps the greatest testament to the success of Seniors Home Care is its longevity. Seniors Home Care was one of the first companies of its kind in the St. Louis area. Today, Seniors Home Care still adheres to the high standards that were set in 1987.

When Kit learned that her grandmother required in-home care, there were few options available at that time. She had no access to an organization like SHC. So the two had an idea. Kit, a single mother, resigned from her corporate position and took care of her grandmother herself.

Discovering firsthand the profound need for professional in-home care, Kit started Seniors Home Care with one goal in mind – to offer seniors and their families the kind of high level, custom tailored care she had tenderly provided to her own grandmother.

Kit recruited like-minded nurses and caregivers to build her team. Her son, Ryan, assumed the role of Director of Operations and in 2010.

SHC’s reputation spread quickly by way of satisfied clients. To meet the growing need, the company continued to expand its services and its staff, which today boasts over 150 caregivers.

Seniors Home Care has developed a unique training program through a local community college that trains newly hired caregivers to provide exceptional home care services. This course, designed by founder Kit Whittington and taught by registered nurses and physical therapists, covers both hands-on care as well as the use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheel chairs, oxygen and monitoring vital signs.

Seniors Home Care also created SHC University, a free resource for family caregivers of St. Louis. SHC University provides education and support to families and caregivers through practical and interactive training by professionals. During the free, three-hour course, an SHC nurse  shares tools to use when caring for an elderly loved one.

SHC is considered a leader in the industry and is affiliated with numerous state and national organizations, including the prestigious Home Care Association of America (HCAOA).

In 2009, Seniors Home Care received the coveted St. Louis Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award, which recognizes companies and charities that are committed to exceptional standards for ethical business practices and service to their customers, employees, suppliers, and communities.

INC. Magazine recognized Seniors Home Care in 2012, and again in 2013, as one of the nation’s fastest growing private companies on its annual INC. 500/5000 list.
